Seraphim Falls… How the West was won… by the Irish!

liamnpierce.jpgLiam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan have teamed up for this quirky western. In Seraphim Falls, Director David Von Acken has succeeded in creating a truly interesting drama/western, which is rich in subtext and symbolism. As suggested by the poetic and ambiguous title, the film is filled with subtle religious imagery, as the forces of good and evil battle it out, through the very human lead characters of Carver and Gideon . Knight Rider… KITT’s Ready, Shelby GT500KR!

kitt.jpgA few months back I talked about the return of Knight Rider (on my other blog of course!) and this is the photo I have been waiting for and in my opinion what has got to be picture of the year! This time around KITT will be a Ford Mustang, and not a Pontiac Firebird as in the original Eighties hit TV series. For the comeback KITT, which in the new movie stands for Knight Industries Three Thousand, is a 540bhp 2008 Shelby GT500KR. Fans will not be disappointed with the talking car, equipped with a super-computer that can hack into any computer system and a body that morphs into different shapes along with the familiar trademark, red lights on its bonnet. Followers of the original series, will also recognise a familiar face, as David Hasselhoff aka Michael Knight, makes a cameo appearance in the movie. It will be aired in the US on 17 February.

Ford Mustang Bullitt… Forty Years After The Movie.

bullittmustang.jpg

Simply, “WOW” is all I can say! CarAndDriver.com‘s Alisa Priddle has made my day, by reporting a fabulous piece of news:

If you haven’t seen the movie Bullitt, or it’s been awhile since you experienced that now-famous seven-minute chase scene between Steve McQueen in his 1968 Ford Mustang GT and a Dodge Charger, then drop by your local video store for a refresher between now and January. That’s when Ford will start building a limited run of 2008 Mustang Bullitts for sale in the U.S. and Canada.

The 7700 Mustang Bullitts are expected to sell out within a month or two of going on sale—every 2001 Mustang Bullitt (5000 were built) was all spoken for within about 60 days. The 2008 model, which is being serialized, will sell for $31,075. It will be formally unveiled at November’s L.A. auto show.

General Lee Vs. Starsky & Hutch!

Remember the “General Lee” from Dukes of Hazard?… Remember the red and white Gran-Torino from Starsky & Hutch?… Ever wondered which was faster? Well after many years of that question being unanswered, Fifth Gear‘s Vicki Butler-Henderson has decided to put them head-to-head on the race track.

For the first time, the oh-so-subtle red-and-white Ford Gran Torino and the bright orange Dodge Charger face off in a boob-tube battle royale. The Charger’s steering was optional and its brakes diabolical, while the Torino from the early days of emission controls was anything but a performance car. Anyone who thinks the old days were the glory days of performance cars should compare these two to modern rides. The golden age is now.

Transformers’ Optimus Prime Truck… For Sale!

15ef_7.JPGEssential Motors 101 have led me to what may or may not be, a real gem that’s up for grabs on eBay… a replica “out of this world”. Needless to say, anyone even contemplating buying this, or even other vehicles, should exercise extreme caution before buying something like this on ebay… never bid on cars or trucks you are not able to travel to see, or buyer beware! Case in point being, while this truck looks to be the bee’s knees and it does look too good to be true, you could end up with a lemon… instead of a trustworthy Optimus Prime!

Bud Ekins, “Bullitt” Stuntman.

greatescape.jpg

Bud Ekins , the veteran stuntman who doubled for Steve McQueen and who was the man behind the wheel in the iconic film Bullitt, has died. He was 77. Ekins died Saturday of natural causes at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, publicist Paul Bloch said. Over the years, he amassed numerous stunt credits including the TV series “ChiPs” and films such as “Diamonds Are Forever,” “Earthquake,” “The Towering Inferno,” “Animal House” and “The Blues Brothers.”

But Ekins’ most famous stunt work was on his first job: doubling for McQueen in the climactic motorcycle jump over a high, barbed-wire fence in the 1963 World War II prisoner-of-war movie “The Great Escape.”Source: LA Times.

batmobile_batman_begins.jpgDuring a stunt test run on the set of the new Batman film, The Dark Knight, a technician following the Batmobile was killed when the vehicle he was in crashed. The victim was on a camera truck which was following the stunt vehicle.

Warner Bros said in a statement: “There was a fatal accident at a special effects facility for Batman: The Dark Knight.

“A technician on the film died when the truck he was in struck a tree following a test run.

“Warner Bros Pictures and the entire cast and crew of The Dark Knight are deeply saddened by this tragedy, and their hearts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased.”
