Nigel Mansell… Sons To Contest Champ Car

November 15, 2007 :: Posted by - Patrick James :: Category - Motor Sport

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, especially if you’re a Mansell… reports Autoweek:

Greg and Leo Mansell, sons of former CART and F1 champion Nigel Mansell, will drive for Walker Racing in the Champ Car Atlantic Series in 2008. Walker has already inked Canadian Kevin Lacroix for a third Atlantic entry next season.

Greg, 20, and Leo, 22, tested with Walker in October at the Putnam Park road course outside Indianapolis. The two raced karts for just six months before entering the Formula BMW U.K. championship in 2006. They competed in British F3 International with limited success.

Rally Ireland Entry List Published.

October 25, 2007 :: Posted by - Patrick James :: Category - AutoNews, Motor Sport

Wheelspin are bringing us news on the Rally Ireland Entry List:

The entry list for Rally Ireland was published this week, as the countdown to the event reaches its final stages, with less than four weeks to go now until the cars roll down the start ramp in Stormont. All the works teams are present and correct and with Sebastien Loeb’s recent double-header of victories in Spain and Corsica bringing him to within four points of Gronholm, the Irish round could be pivotal to deciding the outcome of the 2007 championship.

A strong home contingent is also on the list, with the likes of Eugene Donnelly, Andrew Nesbitt, Eamonn Boland and Ray Breen all featuring. With their prior experience of the roads, a top ten finish for an Irish Tarmac Championship competitor seems a realistic possibility.

Prodrive F1 Entry Uncertain.

October 16, 2007 :: Posted by - Patrick James :: Category - Motor Sport

“New series entrant Prodrive’s 2008 Formula One effort is far from certain.” according to Autoweek: Prodrive received the 12th and last team franchise last year on the basis that the regulations will allow “customer cars” from 2008 onward. Since then, Prodrive apparently secured a sponsorship budget and made a deal to purchase “customer cars” from McLaren-Mercedes. However, the “customer car” issue is delaying finalization of the new Concorde Agreement, which governs F1 and also is due for implementation in 2008. No one has come up with a definition of “constructor” that all teams will accept when it comes to a fair distribution of TV revenue generated by Formula One Management.”Read Article:

Alonso Attack On McLaren Boss.

October 09, 2007 :: Posted by - Patrick James :: Category - AutoNews, Motor Sport

McLaren is a team that has been very much in the lime-light these days after its infamous behaviour has brought disrepute to the team’s name. In another update to the story, Fernando Alonso has attacked the team boss Ron Denis, as reported by RTÉ Sport:

“Fernando Alonso has launched a scathing attack on McLaren and team boss Ron Dennis, claiming once again the team are ‘never going to be favourable’ towards him.

The back-to-back world champion feels the team have given preferential to his team-mate Lewis Hamilton, who still leads the Formula One world championship going into the final race in Brazil despite a pit mishap at the Chinese Grand Prix last weekend.”

September 25, 2007 :: Posted by - Patrick James :: Category - BHP, Motor Sport

formula_one_asia.jpgMotor Authority is reporting that “A sharp fall in profits intensified formula one’s need to push outside of Europe and also drop the US grand prix, according to a report.
