Halloween… Be Seen! Costume Tips!

Trick-or-treating is always a big ordeal for parents and safety is a major concern, as one of the biggest risks for children during Hallowe’en is being hit by a car. It is impractical to put reflective bands on children and they could spoil the effect of the costume having strips of luminous bands. One simple little tip for Hallowe’en to help your children be safe and be seen is give them silver foil bags to collect all their goodies in… The silver foil will reflect car headlights, increasing visibility and will not detract from all the work put into costumes. It’s also worthwhile, keeping costumes short enough to minimize tripping and choosing only masks that allow for the best visibility, enabling your child to slither or slink through the night with ease.Easy-to-Make Hallowe’en Costume Ideas

Cars With Street Cred’.

A group of young American students have given us a fascinating look into their vision of the cars of tomorrow as reported by The New York Times:

“FOR Alex Rodriguez, a high school student from the Bronx, the nickname was inevitable: A-Rod. But a better one would have been Hot Rod: this Alex Rodriguez, 17, recently worked with a Nissan designer to create a car.

Mr. Rodriguez, who attends New Design High School on the Lower East Side, took part in a program organized by Nissan with a nonprofit organization, Sweat Equity Enterprises, or SEE, to bring professional auto designers together with teenagers in lagging urban neighborhoods. He worked with other students from the Bronx and Brooklyn: Paul Ayala, Shakirra Torain and Chris Jones known as Stewie.”

Run-Flat Tyres… Cool or Con’?

RunOnFlat tyres are something that sound very cool indeed. The concept as regards safety is brilliant too but is it an idea that’s just full of air?

Having spoken to one particular tyre-repair company (who choose to remain nameless) I am now left wondering. Is it possible that run-flats are just a means by which car manufacturers can justify charging buyers extra money… keep in mind that runflats as they are know won’t fit just any wheel rims, they have to be the uprated more expensive alloys. Similarly, run flats cannot be repaired, leading to more expense… So what is the real deal with run-flat tyres???
