This priceless youtube video Graphic Designer vs client came to me courtesy of James Larkin(thanks!) – I think lots of people, not just Graphic Designers, will relate to this, in these times of recession “We Want Your Best Work For 3.50 An Hour!” Brilliant!

With Instant Messenger and other new fangled internet thingies, it’s very easy to forget how big a step, even everyday items can be for some people… and how some of the well established and much taken for granted aspects of everyday life are still very new to some! Take SMS Text for instance… I recently received what turned out to be the most endearing text ever! An older-generation relative of mine finally decided to take the plunge and buy a mobile phone… inevitably that lead to their first text message, which initially caused concern!
It read: Hello Patrick, STOP Calling, STOP Meeting Tomorrow, STOP
Needless to say, I was worried I had somehow caused offence in some way and rang. The response to which was nothing was wrong I thought that’s what you had to do with Telegrams.
Very Adrian Mole… but in a world of way to easy messaging, I think this is one of the most wonderful texts I have ever received – Thank you to the sender!
“Google’s web-based e-mail service Gmail crashed earlier today, leaving millions of users around the world unable to send and receive messages.”
Imagine… and let’s face it… It has all the signature hallmarks of a block-buster, End-of-the-world Disaster movie.
The Plot: Gmail crashes permanently… leaving the world in chaos! Luckily, Will Smith turns up in time to save the day (and on the 4th of July no less) and restores global communication!
The Moral of the story: God forbid anyone ever put pen to paper anymore and wrote a letter to someone!
Last night there was nothing on tv and as channel surfed aimlessly I stumbled across “Groundhod Day”… again! As movies go it’s not the worst – so I left it on, not too pushed one way or the other (more in the background I guess)! I knew the plot and the jokes were a bit tired but the strangest notion struck me and haunted me all day today.
Half in jest, I thought “Welcome to where I live!”… and how alike real-life “Groundhog Day” trully was – Sometimes, every day feels like deja-vu for the next! Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy what I do for a living – but it’s amazing how quickly life becomes routine… Up at the same time, the usual things to do and the same processes… then to bed and before the dreaming is done, it begins again!
I am not exactly sure how to classify this extract but I guess it is somewhat related… today, while surfing I came across a very unusual but interesting new blog site Gombeen Nation and this humorous article from Metro via the site:
“In a country where you can drive to the testing centre on a provisional licence, fail, and drive off into the traffic again, it’s not surprising that the standard of roadcraft often leaves a lot to be desired. Steve Lane (!), of Dunboyne sums it up well in today’s Metro, with his Commandments for Motoring Muppets:”
