Real-life “Groundhog Day” – Stranger than fiction!

groundhogday.jpgLast night there was nothing on tv and as channel surfed aimlessly I stumbled across “Groundhod Day”… again! As movies go it’s not the worst – so I left it on, not too pushed one way or the other (more in the background I guess)! I knew the plot and the jokes were a bit tired but the strangest notion struck me and haunted me all day today.

Half in jest, I thought “Welcome to where I live!”… and how alike real-life “Groundhog Day” trully was – Sometimes, every day feels like deja-vu for the next! Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy what I do for a living – but it’s amazing how quickly life becomes routine… Up at the same time, the usual things to do and the same processes… then to bed and before the dreaming is done, it begins again!

International Women’s Day 2008 (IWD) – 8th March

gallery_2.gifSaturday 8th March is International Women’s Day. “IWD” is the global day connecting all women around the world and has been observed since 1908, a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world when 15,000 women marched through New York City demanding shorter hours, better pay and voting rights. Great improvements have been made. We do have female astronauts and prime ministers, school girls are welcomed into university, women can work and have a family, women have real choices. And so the tone and nature of IWD has, for the past few years, moved from being a reminder about the negatives to a celebration of the positives.
