Graphic Designer vs client – It’s A Bots Life! – Priceless Youtube

This priceless youtube video  Graphic Designer vs client came to me courtesy of James Larkin (thanks!) – I think lots of people, not just Graphic Designers, will relate to this, in these times of recession “We Want Your Best Work For 3.50 An Hour!” Brilliant!

* WARNING: Video Contains Strong Language. NOT a children’s cartoon.

Featured Video – “Little Look” Banana Boat (featuring Eleanor McEvoy)

Little Look by Banana Boat featuring Eleanor McEvoy is the first of a newly “Weekly Featured Video” spot – And does what it says on the tin – Each week will see a different video featuring some of the latest talent on the music scene.

In what I think is a suitable fashion… for its premier to the blog, the first featured vid’ is stunning, visually and musically with the added bonus of the vocals of the amazing Eleanor McEvoy (well known for ONLY A WOMAN’S HEART) … My first and lasting reaction to this song has been WOW! I’m just so proud to have the song on my site to launch the new weekly spot – and with any luck I will be able to bring you an interview with Eleanor over the next week or two!

1,000+ signatures & 1,000 thank yous!… 1,000+ síniú agus buíochas le 1,000!

1,250+ signatures!
A big thank you to all who signed. Last week, the signatures were sent by email to Pádraig Ó Ceidigh, owner of Foinse, Brian Cowen, Éamon Ó Cúiv and Foras na Gaeilge, followed by hard copies in the post. I decided to leave the petition open for another while, so that the aforementioned can see the 1,250+ signatures, as well as the continuous support coming in. Apparently, Pádraig Ó Ceidigh himself wanted to bring the paper to an end at the Friday meeting and that the money from Foras na Gaeilge wasn’t enough, even though they wanted to give him more. I still don’t know what’s going with Foinse’s future. It appears that help is coming from Údarás na Gaeilge, says Concubhar Ó Liatháin iGaeilge and according to TG4, (Thursday evening news) Youtube but it’s not clear yet. We will have to wait.

1,250+ síniú!

Go raibh mile maith agaibh as bhur sínithe. An tseachtain seo caite, seoladh ceithre ríomhphost leis na sínithe go dtí  úinéar Foinse, Pádraig Ó Ceidigh, Brian Cowen, Éamon Ó Cúiv agus Foras na Gaeilge, agus cópieanan crua ina dhiadh sa phost. Bheartaigh mé an t-iarratas a fhágáil oscailte ar fheadh tamaill eile, go dtí go mbeidh na daoine réamhráite ábalta iad a fheiceáil mar aon leis an tacaíocht leanúnach a bhfuil ag teacht isteach. De réir dealraimh ba é Pádraig Ó Ceidigh féin a bhí ag iarraidh an nuachtán a chur chun deireadh ag an crinniú dé hAoine agus nach raibh an t-airgead ó Fhoras na Gaeilge go leor, cé go raibh siad ag iarraidh níos mó a thabhairt dó. Mar sin, níl a fhios agam cad atá ar siúl fós maidir le todhchaí Foinse. Is amhlaidh go bhfuil cabhair ag teacht ó Údarás na Gaeilge, a deir Concubhar Ó Liatháin iGaeilge agus de réir a TG4 (nuacht trathnóna Déaradaoin)Youtube ach níl sé go soiléar fós. Caithfimidh fanacht.

Jerry Fish – The Beautifully Titled “The Beautiful Untrue”!

Jerry Fish and The Mudbug Club have produced an amazing album with the beautifully and poetically titled, The Beautiful Untrue. I could rant on about it but it one of those albums people should just check out for themselves… It’s worth it!

David Lynch – The Alphabet… 41 & Amazing Still…

Second short film from David Lynch, The Alphabet, shot in 1968. Featuring his wife from then, Peggy. He has been given an award from the American Film Institute for this…

The idea for “The Alphabet” came from Lynch’s wife, Peggy Reavey, ho according to Lynch in Chris Rodley’s Lynch on Lynch book, “was having a bad dream one night and was saying the alphabet in her sleep in a tormented way. So that’s sort of what started ‘The Alphabet’ going.” Based on the merits of this short film, Lynch was awarded an American Film Institute production grant and became a minor celebrity.

Clever Icon Creator and Alfa Romeo

With the global downturn there has been a real lull in car sales… I think one of the things that has struck me most about early 2009 and the world credit crunch is the number of new models of car being released… and no-one to buy them. The new Opel Insignia for instance and the new Mitsubishi Colt and the list goes on!

One car manufacturer with a new car is Alfa Romeo with their new MiTO. Not content to take the credit crunch and an international reduction in car sales they have come up with a fun addition for their website. Now when you visit their website you can create YouTube styled Mini-clips and Icons… for example, for Valentine’s Day…
